Critical Hours:
Studies by the Office of Juvenile Justice and
Delinquency Prevention show that juvenile violence
peaks in the after school hours on school days and in
the evening on non school days.
Inadequate Programs:
The preferred method to combat  delinquency
during the critical time frame has been after
school programs. Unfortunately, in the North
County area, our youth are falling through the
cracks.  There are few programs aimed at youth
12-18 years old to encourage academic success
and positive social behavior.
Startling Statistics:
In 2007 alone, more than 5 young people, under the
age of 18, have been either arrested or convicted for
1st degree murder.  Instead of going to college, each
of them stand to be in prison 40 or 50 years to life.
